What Are Varicose Veins?

Valves maintain blood flow to the heart in healthy leg veins. When the valves stop functioning correctly or the veins weaken, blood flows backward. It collects in the lower leg veins causing venous reflux disease, also known as Varicose Veins.

Venous reflux disease causes swelling, and the symptoms may worsen over time. Sometimes serious conditions such as pain, discomfort, ulceration, and hemorrhaging can result if not addressed.

Varicose veins often appear as bluish and bulging veins in the legs, which may be accompanied by

  • Swelling
  • Aching
  • Itchiness
  • Leg or Feet Heaviness

Blood flows through the valves, maintaining blood flow. When the valves malfunction, blood flows backward, causing Varicose Veins.

How you Get Varicose Veins

Common conditions that can cause varicose veins may include

  • Being Overweight
  • Sitting or Standing for Long Durations
  • Limited exercise
  • Family History of Varicose Veins
  • Being Older

Leaving varicose veins untreated can cause complications to your legs in the form of swelling, ulcers, and skin and tissue changes (such as blood clots).

Unfortunately, many of the conditions that cause varicose veins are also conditions that can cause Diabetes. Therefore, while we may use inSolutions to treat Diabetes, treatment for Varicose Veins requires additional therapy to help repair venous reflux disease.

The VenaSeal Closure System is a non-thermal therapy alternative

that seals the damaged vein to increase blood flow and reduce symptoms. A small amount of medical glue that has been carefully prepared is delivered to the damaged vein through the system; this allows blood to be redirected through surrounding healthy veins. With the Vena Seal Closure System, we may achieve the following:
96% closure rate after five years.
Minimally invasive treatment.
Safe, ultrasound-guided procedure.
In-office procedure.
No general anesthesia is required.
Virtually no downtime.
